The things we most like about this machine are the print quality and the low running costs when using compatible cartridges. It may lack Wi-Fi support and memory card ports; and can only be used in conjunction with a PC or Mac, but the end results make up for the lack of modern features.

At the time of our review the printer retail price was around £80, which is quite remarkable when you consider the technology involved in producing such fine images. Of course mass production and inflated ink cartridge prices make this possible; making the decision to buy such a machine an easy one for many. Particularly those computer users who are mostly interested in printing photographs at home.

The lack of a scanner, flash memory slots, and scanner will limit sales however. Maybe the reason for the lack of competition when it comes to dedicated A4 photographic printers below the £100 level.

* The other printer we considered for this award was the Epson Stylus Photo P50 which uses 6 cartridges and also features a disk printing facility.
