HP Envy 110 e-All-In-One Printer Review

HP are the latest manufacturer to introduce new printer models that allow you to print your documents from virtually any place! The ENVY110 AIO, Photosmart 5510, Photosmart 6510 and Photosmart 7510 all include the HP ePrint and Apple AirPrint technology . HP Auto Wireless Connect can also be used to connect to networks.

With the HP Envy 110 you can print, scan, copy, and even browse on the Internet using either wireless or USB connection. The print resolution is up to 1200 x 600 dpi rendered for black and 4800 x 1200 optimised dpi for colour printing. The flat bed Scanner resolution is 1200 x 1200 dpi.

HP have put a lot of emphasis on style, producing a device that would fit into almost any room, offering a cool low profile design and quiet operation. There is a large 8.9cm touch screen display on the front facia that responds to touch and flick movements. An auto expanding output tray with 25 sheet capacity that automatically retracts when you pick up the paper!

The HP Envy 110 allows you to fax without the use of a telephone line using the eFax service. You will need to register with eFax and you will be limited to sending or receiving 20 sheets per month, unless you upgrade to the premium service.

Power consumption is 26 watts maximum in operation, 7.1 watts in standby, 3.5 watts in sleep mode, and 0.53 watts when off but not unplugged.

The new Envy uses HP 300 cartridges which do not contain very much ink, however HP300XL high yield cartridges are available. It is possible to refill these model of cartridges but we doubt if users of this machine will want to!

With a monthly duty cycle of 1000 sheets, this printer has been designed for the modest user. The paper tray only holds a maximum of 80 A4 sheets or 30 sheets of photographic paper. You can only perform a maximum of 50 copies at any one time (25 duplexed sheets), as the output tray only holds 30 sheets. Printing can be slow and better quality can be found elsewhere for less money.

This printer does however contain a few useful features that may appeal to the style consious, amongst others. The ability to connect to mobile devices and send faxes without a telephone line should guarantee some sales, but do good looks and personality compensate for an overall lack of substance?
