Expression XP 600 Printer Review
The Epson Expression XP 600 model printer is designed for use in the home and for people needing to print documents and borderless glossy photographs. Costing around £100, this all-in-one solution aims to fulfil the needs of a slightly more demanding domestic user. In addition with the benefit of Wireless, AirPrint, and Cloud Print services.
The Epson Small-In-One design saves desktop space ( 390mm Wide x 341 mm Deep x 138 mm High) and offers automatic double sided printing
PC free printing is made easy on the XP-600. The fascia contains a 6.3cm colour LCD screen surrounded by a smart-navigation touch-panel. Near to this are PictBridge and memory card slots (CompactFlash, MagicGate Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Micro, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Pro Duo, Microdrive, MicroSD, MicroSDHC, MiniSD, MiniSDHC, RS-MMC, SD Memory Card, SDHC Memory Card). There is also a capability to print onto CD / DVD disks by inserting a plastic tray into a front slot.
Further demonstrating this models dual capabilities are the two paper trays. Both front loading and presumably designed to house A4 standard paper in one, with the other containing photographic paper.
The Epson Expression XP-600 has a print resolution of 5760 x 1440 and uses five Polar Bear Claria Premium Ink Cartridges to produce sharpe detail and clear text. Using dye based ink the blacks are darker than pigment inks. Cartridge codes are T2601 / T2631 XL Black, T2602 / T2632 Cyan, T2603 / T2633 XL Magenta, T2604 T2634 XLYellow, and an additional T2611 Photo Black cartridge that is used when printing photographic images.
Print speeds are decent and faster than the cheaper XP-400 model. In comparison to the more expensive XP-800 there is no automatic document feeder or fax facility. Overall the XP-600 produces average quality printing with a wealth of features. Ink costs are currently expensive.
